When I was a kid, I really loved pianos, mainly because my family owned a piano store, and my Nana could really tickle the ivories. I always wanted to take lessons, but even though my Nana taught piano since before I was born, she could never find the time to teach me – so I never really learned.
Throughout my life, I have learned to pick out a song or two by ear, but I’m really not that good at it. I can read music, but verrrrrry slooooowly, so that doesn’t work either, unless I just memorize it.
The summer I turned 14 years old, I went to stay with my aunt for a few weeks at a Christian camp in Linden, Tennessee, (Camp Linden). While I was there, a very nice boy taught me to play Beethoven’s Für Elise – and I can still remember how to play most of it. But I don’t get to practice much, as I don’t even have so much as a small keyboard anymore.
My dream is to someday have a Steinway grand piano, like the one pictured above. My Nana had one and it sounded so beautiful when she played it. I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford such a luxury, and even if I did, where would I put it?
So, I ask you…

Hey y’all! This is the first video I have made where I am actually in it, so this is sort of my video debut. I made this mainly for my Twittaw friends, but I thought I’d share it here at the blog too. I have been hesitant about making a video of myself, because of my Southern drawl, but it is part of who I am, so go ahead and laugh if ya like.
