Have I told you how great my son-in-law is? Well, he is, and very much so. My daughter couldn’t have picked a better guy. He’s such a good provider for her, and he treats me with the utmost respect. Plus, he’s always there to help out if he’s needed.
Due to some unfortunate incidents earlier this year, Charlie and I haven’t had internet access at home for several months. A few weeks ago, I moved my computer up to my daughter’s house, so I could get online. Then, my computer crapped out last week, but Charlie went and leased one for me the next day. (He’s great too!) I now have a brand new Compaq Presario. And it’s soooo much better than the old one I had. I can’t really complain about the old one. It was given to me by a good friend, and it lasted a good while, and it was a pretty good machine, it was just old. Anyway…I digress.
This morning, I was talking to my son-in-law about the best way for my husband and I to get back online at home without having to pay a boat-load of money, (our finances are stretched as it is). That is when he said he would provide internet access for us in his name and we could just pay him $40 a month. Now isn’t he precious??? If we were to try and get our DSL turned back on, we’d have to pay the former bill first and it’s up around $200. Don’t get me wrong, I do intend to pay that bill, but I will have to do so in monthly installments, and that will take a little while. Meanwhile, I will be on cable internet provided to us by my wonderful son-in-law.
So, as of Monday, July 6th, we will be online again! Yay!
Thank you, Chris! We love you! <3 <3 <3
I have to thank Geek Dad again for this one, (he’s always hooking me up with cool stuff). WP Fancy Zoom by Stephan Granade is a Wordpress plugin that enables image links to zoom out in a small pop-up window, instead of opening a new browser window/tab.
Go ahead, click here and see for yourself how it works.
Or you can post a thumbnail and link it to the original URL of the image, like so:
I really like this plugin, and I thought some of you other Wordpress users would also enjoy it.
Nifty features (from Stephen’s site) include:
I guess this day has been so long because I have been up since 9:30PM last night. I have tried to keep my mind stimulated throughout the day so that I can go to sleep at a “normal” time like regular folk. I think it has worked, because my eyes are getting heavy as I write this post, so it will be short and sweet.
I got very little accomplished today in the way of productivity, but I did read a lot in Google Reader and even managed to sweep out the clutter in there. I also subscribed to several more science feeds, so that’ll be nice.
I played a lot on Facebook and chatted with some friends there. That is always fun. I have become addicted to both Facebook and Twitter, but I really need to find some new Facebook friends. If you’re reading this, and you’re a member there, hit me up why don’t ya?
Speaking of social sites, I have pretty much abandoned MySpace. Of all the friends I have there, I think about two of them update regularly. The others have either forgotten about MySpace, or have abandoned it for greener pastures. I have never been a big fan of MySpace, so I feel no love lost.
I think I’ve finally got my blog the way I want it…for now. I may change the theme again down the road a little, because I just like trying out new stuff. I think I have finally settled on a name too. Hehe. I know it must be a bit confusing for my subscribers right now, and I do apologize.
As far as making any money online today, well, let’s just say I didn’t. I wasn’t up to working for some reason. I just couldn’t get motivated. Eh, well, maybe tomorrow.
Ok, so I have begun to ramble, so I’ll be heading home now for a long night of restful sleep, (I hope).
Until next time…

This is Shadow. We gave him away, and we sure miss him.

This is Damien. We gave him away too.

Damien peeking around the bush.

This is Diego De La Vega. He's still with us.

This is Claudia. She found a new home too.
Last night I moved the blog to a new server and boy, am I glad that is over with! I am not very educated in such things, so some of it was (and still is) quite confusing for me. Importing the Wordpress stuff was easy. It’s the server stuff that has me bamboozled.
My hosting was at GoDaddy, but that package is about to expire, so a friend of mine offered to let me have a little space on his server. Well, you can’t beat free, so, of course, I gratefully accepted.
Everything turned out fine, except I think I lost all my comments, but that’s no biggie. I’ll just start out with a clean slate in that area.
My thanks goes out to Vance and Cheryl for all the goodness they shed on me.
Last month, I started going to the doctor again and to start me off, they did the usual blood tests for women’s health. The following week, I received a letter from the doctor that my blood tests had come back abnormal. I gotta tell ya, that scared me pretty bad. I tried to call them that day, but the office was closing and the receptionist told me someone would call me back the next day.
My daughter, Jessica and I were on pins and needles, with all sorts or crazy stuff going through our heads. So, close to the end of the next day, when no one had called me back, I decided to call them again. After being switched to several people, I finally talked with the doctor. I was told my cholesterol and triglycerides were at a high-risk level, and that I needed to come in and get a prescription for cholesterol meds, and that I would probably have to take this medication for the rest of my life.
The medicine they gave me is Lovastatin (40mg). I am to break them in half and take 20mg daily with my evening meal, along with diet and exercise.
I am to limit my consumption of fatty meats. The doctor told me I can still eat pork and beef, as long as it was lean, and I have to watch my chicken too, and make sure it is lean and skinless. I can also eat fish.
I have learned that oatmeal can lower your bad cholesterol (LDL) and raise your good cholesterol (HDL). If you are wondering what the difference is, here’s a good page to read about good and bad cholesterol and triglycerides. So, I am eating oatmeal everyday now. I have to tell ya, I’ve never been a big fan of oatmeal, but I got a box of the flavored oatmeal, (banana bread is my favorite), and they are really good and I like them. I have tried regular oatmeal with some bananas and Splenda, but it was still horrible, so I guess I’ll stick with the already flavored packets.
Besides the oatmeal, I am eating more vegetables, both cooked and raw. I love to snack on cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, squash and zucchini. Also, I am really reading labels to make sure I’m not consuming too much fat or cholesterol.
So, my diet has been drastically altered, and sometimes it’s frustrating, but for the most part, I am ok with it. Sometimes, though, I just want to chow down on some pork chops, or get a country ham biscuit, but I’ve been a good girl. Besides, I need to lose about 45 to 50 pounds, so this will help a lot. I can already tell that I’ve lost a little weight, though I won’t know exactly how much until next Monday, when I go back to the doctor for my women’s health appointment.
As for exercise, I have been walking. Not too much right off the bat, since too much exercise causes my Fibromyalgia to flare up and I hurt like hell for several days afterward. So I’m starting out slowly, and will gradually work my way up to 45 minutes to an hour of walking each day.
I am also interested in learning Yoga. I hope I can find some good Yoga lessons online, preferably in video format. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. Thanks!
Wow, it has been a long time since I posted! I hope you’re all still with me.
I’m really hating not being online at home. I miss all my internet buddies, and my social networks. Since I’ve been away, so much has changed online.
First, and foremost, Rejaw has shut down, and that was my social hub. (I guess Facebook will have to do as my social home now). I am really, really going to miss Rejaw. I have yet to see another microblogging service like it. I really hope to see it revived later on. All my Rejaw friends are now scattered all over cyberspace, and I sure hope I’ll be able to find them all. Some are at Plurk, others are at Twitter, and still others are at Facebook and Myspace. It will be hard to maintain some of those friendships, but I’ll damn sure try.
Secondly, both Facebook and FriendFeed have had facelifts, and I have to say, I am liking them more and more. At least those were good changes.
As for me, I will be moving my computer over to my daughter’s house. She only lives two blocks from me, so I can just walk up to her house and get online. I really need to get back to making money online and keeping in touch with all my buddies. Perhaps then, I’ll be able to make enough money to get this freakin’ tooth pulled out, and also get my internet turned back on. Wish me luck!

I decided during the night that I wanted a new Wordpress theme. It’s not that I didn’t like the one I had, because I really did. It’s just that it was not widget-ready, and it was so hard to work with the sidebars, and they were really too narrow anyhoo.
Besides, it’s in my Gemini nature to change things up, and often. That’s why this theme is good for me. It has several color choices, so if I tire of this color, I can change it four or five times before I’m ready to retire the theme.
Ok, and I changed the name back again. Hehe! I know, I’m a ding bat.
