It’s one thing to meet someone on a dating site, but it’s an entirely different animal altogether to have it grow into a long lasting relationship. Let’s face it, people can look pretty darn good on paper. Even telling the truth, an online dating profile can enhance all the flaws that may show up when you meet each other in person. On the other hand, some people don’t tell the entire story, and you may pass their profile by for any number of reasons. Meeting someone on a dating site is a great place to start when you’ve run out of other resources. It’s a lot of fun getting to know someone through emails and phone calls. The two of you can be extremely flirtatious as you woo each other with romantic notes and simmering conversation on the telephone. But you will never know if this relationship has a fighting chance until you meet one another face-to-face.

Nobody is perfect. You’re not perfect and neither is your online date. Never forget that. It’s typical to idealize this new person in your life and put them up on a pedestal. Do yourself a favor and try to stay grounded. People who are up on pedestals will always fall. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment.

It’s nice to get the small talk out of the way while communicating online. Hopefully, if things have gone well, meeting in person is the next logical step and the two of you will feel perfectly comfortable in each other’s presence. The beginning of a new relationship can be intoxicating with all these new emotions and feelings swirling around. Enjoy them. But it is important to keep things in perspective, keep the lines of communication open, and try not to let yourself get too carried away. Live each moment as it happens and don’t attempt to presume what might be in six months or a year from now. Let each day happen with your new love and allow the relationship to evolve naturally.

The best advice is to keep the lines of communication open. You started out learning about each other through online communication, so keep that going as you learn to deal with each other in person. Make sure you are on the same page as to what you want out of this relationship and where you see it going. Be sure not to tell the other person things you think he or she want to hear. In the beginning, it’s very tempting to do that. Be yourself and know what you want. That is the only way the relationship can be successful. Communication is key. Every couple I know says that. Men and women are wired differently and we cannot read each other’s minds. So make sure you express your feelings open and honestly. The stronger your foundation, the better your chances are of having a long-lasting and successful relationship.

Yes, it has happened AGAIN! Grrrr! I’m so tired of this!

First of all, I would like to apologize to my guest authors whose images have disappeared from their articles. I wasn’t able to retrieve them. However, I have many of them on my hard drive, so I will work on getting those back up ASAP. Also, I apologize to my guest authors who published articles after September 16, 2011, because they were irretrievable. I’m just so very sorry for all this.

The good news is, I have moved my site back to GoDaddy. The hosting company I was using before simply is NOT secure. This is the second time my site has been hacked. And hacking is not the only bad luck I’ve had with that company. There were several down times, some that lasted for weeks. I just cannot afford for this to keep happening.

I know the site looks rather a mess right now, but I’m working on whipping it back into shape, so please bear with me.

Thanks so much to my good friend, Charnita Fance, who has offered to share her hosting account with me. It is much appreciated.

In the news…

Lots of bad stuff happening in the news this month. Charlie Sheen losing what was left of his marbles. All that mess in Lybia, which is bad enough, but what worries me the most are the unfortunate events happening in Japan. My heart goes out to the people of Japan. The threat of nuclear meltdown at the nuclear facility in Fukushima really has me terrified, not only for those in Japan, but for all humanity. Let’s hope they are able to keep those reactors cooled and get them fixed before a global catastrophe occurs. Japan has had many sizable aftershocks since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. I just wonder how much more those already broken reactors can withstand. Radioactive material is already leaking at very high levels, but just how much is anyone’s guess, because the so-called “experts” keep changing their reports. Grrr!!!

Personal stuff…

Well, March hasn’t been the most positive month for me so far this year, but I admit, it wasn’t the most negative either. I began the month having extreme anxiety attacks which were causing shooting pains in my left shoulder and down my left arm. I was convinced I was having a heart attack. I even went so far as to awaken Charlie at 5am, because I really thought I was dying.

Later that day, I visited the doctor, had an EKG, and it seems my heart is fine. I am just under too much stress and have been having “panic attacks.” He prescribed some nice happy pills, and so far, so good. No more heart attack false alarms.

Last time I posted, I was on a journey to being nicotine-free. Well, that didn’t pan out so well either. I wore the nicotine patch for two days and it caused extreme heart palpitations and shortness of breath, which brought on some panic issues too. I think I may have gotten the patch with too much nicotine in it. They also cause itching at the site that drives me insane and then a rash afterwards. At any rate, I can’t wear them. However, I did ask the doctor to help me stop smoking with Wellbutrin, because my insurance doesn’t cover my prescription drugs and who can afford Chantix out of their own pocket??? I’ve used Wellbutrin before, years ago for other reasons, and it kept me from even wanting a cig; plus, it’s way less expensive, and I might be able to afford it. But the doctor said until I get my anxiety under control, it probably wouldn’t be a good idea for me to stop smoking. It would just add to it. I still have the goal to quit before my 45th birthday in June, and she said that may be doable, depending on how I progress with this anxiety disorder. So we’ll see.

Speaking of smoking, my baby sister, who is only 29 years old, was diagnosed this month with advanced COPD, (yes, caused from smoking). So this makes me want to quit even more. She has completely quit smoking and is doing well. I think she’s on her 3rd week now without a cig. I’m very proud of her. I think she’s taking Wellbutrin also.

My other sis is using Chantix, and she says it really does work, but she still has a cigarette every now and then. It has some nasty side effects, and after about 3 weeks, she’s still experiencing them from time to time. Not sure I’d want to take that, but I sure hope it will work for her.

Perhaps one day, we’ll all three be smoke-free. I believe we will. :)

School…

On a good note, I’m thinking about going back to school. Right now, I’m considering two online schools: Penn Foster Career School and Ashworth College. If anyone out there has any experience, whether it’s positive or negative, please post in the comment section below. Thanks!

I’d give just about anything to have a VIP ticket to this event, (only $350 – and includes a post-concert reception with Sting and Trudie). Oh yeah, I’d give my right arm and the left one too!

London’s Royal Opera House in 2007, which was released on the Opus Arte label in 2009. Since then, performances have been held at Windsor Castle, Salisbury Cathedral, and Cortona’s Tuscan Sun Festival. Culture Project produced the most recent U.S. performance of Twin Spirits at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York on June 30, 2010.

The February 15th performance of this poetic meditation on the passionate relationship between composer Robert Schumann and his wife, Clara Wieck, will feature Sting and Styler reading from letters between Robert and Clara while their story is interwoven with music composed by Robert — whose spirit will be embodied by violin, baritone Scott Hendricks and pianist JoNathan Kelly — and by Clara, who is evoked by pianist Natasha Paremski, cellist Sara Sant’Ambrogio and soprano Camille Zamora.

Day One

I’ve been smoking cigarettes for the past 30 years. I figured it’s time to quit. If I’m lucky, I’ll be like my MaMaw and live 40+ more years. She also smoked for 30 years. Then one day, when she was in her mid 40s, (like I am now), she just decided to lay them down and never pick them up again. Yes, she quit COLD TURKEY! (Kudos, MaMaw! That’s something I’ve tried a dozen times, to no avail.) And she proceeded to live to see the ripe old age of 82. I’d like to see 82. Wouldn’t you?

So, as of today, (Valentine’s Day, 2011), I’ve enlisted the help of Ye Olde Nicotine Patch. I’ve only used them one other time, about 6 or 7 years ago, and I’ll tell ya…I STILL WANTED A CIGARETTE! But at that time, I was kinda forced to wear them, because I was in the hospital. I wasn’t really trying to quit then, so my mind wasn’t in the right place. This time, I really want to quit. I am trying to take care of myself these days, so I can live longer, and smoking is only taking years away from me – years I could be spending with my loved ones, instead of in my grave.

Charlie was supposed to quit with me, but it looks as though he has left for work without a patch, as the box was still sitting unopened on his desk when I got up. Oh well, maybe he just forgot. I bet he didn’t forget to pick up a pack of cigs on the way to work, though…hehe!

Ok, so I have applied the patch. Wish me luck!

“Be Still My Beating Heart” by Sting

I’ve had this WordPress iPhone app for a long, long time, but I’ve never used it. Today, I am curious about it, so I figured I’d give it a go.

I’m adding a photo of my kitty, Malcolm that I already had on my phone so I can see how well it looks.

I know this post is not exactly news worthy, so why are you still here?

Bertolli Chicken Florentine and Farfalle

It was a long weekend at work, but it really wasn’t so bad. It would have been better, of course, if I didn’t have this cold. But at least Val was there with me this weekend, and the products I demonstrated were all very good and I was really pleased with them.

For those of you who don’t know, I am a product demonstrator for a marketing company, (only they don’t call me that – they call me an “event specialist” – but regardless, I’m still demonstrating products). Anyhoo, my “events” are currently “executed” at my local Walmart Supercenter.

Ok, so the following are some of the products that I enjoyed and thought I’d pass along to you. It’s very rare that I like some, let alone ALL the products I demonstrate over the course of the weekend. But this weekend was an exception. So here ya go:

I was particularly impressed with Starkist Frozen SeaSations. There are several different kinds, but my fave was definitely Lemon Dill Salmon, (NOMMY!).  If you like seafood, you really should check these out. Along with salmon, they also have tilapia, tuna, shrimp and fillets of Atlantic white fish, all in varying flavors, like Teryaki Orange and Ginger. Good grief, I’m getting hungry just thinking about this stuff! Give it a try, I promise you won’t be sorry. NOTE: I personally didn’t care for the Mediterranean Herb Tilapia, but that doesn’t mean you won’t. I guess I’m just not a big fan of Mediterranean herbs. :P

Another great product I demoed this weekend was Bird’s Eye Steamfresh Lightly Sauced and Seasoned vegetables. I particularly liked the Rotini and Brocolli with Cheese Sauce, but the Penne & Vegetables with Alfredo Sauce was quite tasty too. These are also very cheap. At our store, they ran about $1.78 ea., and it will feed 2 people. Oh, and hey, I am pretty sure there is a coupon for this at Coupons.com that you can print off - ($1 off of 3 packages).

Finally, the best thing I’ve tried in a long time was Bertolli Chicken Florentine and Farfalle. I was extremely happy with this frozen dinner. But don’t even think about trying this stuff if you don’t like spinach, because there’s a lot of it in there. I’ve personally never had a problem with spinach, but I didn’t realize how many people won’t even try something just because it has spinach in it, until yesterday! If that’s the way you are, then I have to say, you’re missing out on much deliciousness! :D

These are all products that I have never tried, or even heard of, and if you hadn’t heard of them either, now you know of 3 new things you can give a try.

Have you tried anything new lately? If so, please tell us about it in the comment section below!
