Great points in your post Conroy. There is nothing like going to a website that is clean and neat and easy to navigate. A personal peeve of mine are websites that use black backgrounds. My eyes cannot tolerate looking at the screen when the background is dark.

Hi Kelly,
There are some free WordPress plugins that you can use like Log In Lock down - Adds some extra security to WordPress by restricting the rate at which failed logins can be re-attempted from a given IP range. Keeping hackers out of your site.

Website Defender secure WordPress plugin is another one that I use. It's a free WordPress plugin that helps secure your WordPress blog by reviewing key security functions.

Online games can be a fun and creative way for kids to learn until they are ready for the "real thing." It would be similar to flying students who use simulators until they are ready for the real thing.

Since most people are online these days creative sites are a great alternative to the Facebook and twitters of the world.

I have found that public transportation, if not free, gives a good discount to students. During my last 2 years as an undergraduate I started buying used books online and found I saved over 50% each term doing this. Sure, I miss a few weeks of having the book but if really needed the library or someone in class will let you borrow it to catch up. Another thing I learned is that while many instructors say a book is required, sometimes you don't ever use it, so wait until after the first day of class to determine if you even need the book or not!

I have always heard of people who went on these but never actually met one, or knew details of how to get there! This information was very valuable and gave me hope that someday it might be possible for me too!

I think this is really great-not only is it fun but I think it also adds to the culinary experience. I have found that my children are less picky about what they eat if I get them involved. This is a great way to help get more healthy things on the plate (and eaten!).

I know there is currently a lot of debate regarding wet vs dry food for cats, a lot of it triggered by the latest Iams advert which talks about the high water content of wet food in a negative light. However, a lot of owners worry that their cats do not drink enough water so do not consider water in food as a bad thing and even consider the Iams claims to be irresponsible.

Personally I prefer to give my cats mainly wet food, they seem to prefer it anyway. Sometimes they have dry but more as a food to leave down when I am out all day at work.

Anyway, great article with some interesting info :)

I'm definitely a history buff. It's interesting though, when you think of historical sites, those in the States don't register, at least not to me. But as you've elaborated, the States is rich with historical towns. But of all the sites you've listed, Athens is at the top of my list. It's amazing how advanced the Ancient Greeks were, from architecture right up to political structure. So a vacation in Greece would be the stuff of my dreams.

I really love the whole aspect of gaining actual experience. Most games kids play these days involve content with no real value and loads of destructive elements, so this is a huge leap forward. No matter how hard parents try, telling your kids to get off the computer and go out and play will just leave you with a bunch of bewildered stares. I appreciate how these games have embraced the tech craze and converted it into a positive experience for the young ones.
